Sustainable Agriculture - Carbon saving and trading approaches

Project context

Many large agricultural companies are interested in participating in the carbon credits market, in order to help farmers enjoy the benefits of carbon credit trading. At the starting point, companies need to building know how on carbon markets and potential CO2 reductions.

Project objective

The project objective was to assist a large agribusiness company in bringing a newly developed carbon saving project to market. Specifically, the project selected a suitable carbon market for this new product. Furthermore, the project selected suitable partners for project implementation.

Project output

The first step of the project consisted in a desk research on the regulated and voluntary carbon markets. In a second step, this project analyzed the feasibility of registering carbon credits for farmers who use one of the company’s main products and estimated the potential emission savings.
