Expertise

My expertise lies primarily in innovation management and business strategy with a specific focus on their implication for development. My work is concerned with solutions for (1) product development for low-income communities (2) market creation and promotion strategies for pro-poor products and services. Having lived and worked in the Middle East, Scandinavia and Western Europe and interacting with a diverse set of enterprises has provided me with valuable insights on engaging in North-South collaborations for development.

Previous Experience

  • For the second phase of the UNDP Growing Inclusive Business (GIM) initiative, I currently serve as a research fellow, reviewing the pro-poor business cases from Northern Africa and the Middle East.
  • For a Dutch multinational corporation, I conducted an evaluation of their BOP business model.
  • At Maastricht University, I am a tutor for Entrepreneurship and International Business Strategy.
  • At a Swedish multinational company, I designed and implemented a framework for identifying and evaluating disruptive innovations.
  • As a system analyst in a fast-growing IT company in the Middle East, I implemented a quality management system.
